Non-Surgical Snoring Treatment

Snoring is related to sleep apnea, but snoring doesn’t necessarily mean you have this condition. Fortunately, your dentist can evaluate your symptoms to determine whether treatment, including non-surgical snoring therapy, is suitable for you.

Non-surgical snoring treatment relies on our innovative Solea CO2 Laser and dental expertise to gently address the issues causing nighttime distress, such as sleep apnea and snoring.

Sleep Apnea and What It Means for Your Wellness

Remember, snoring is a sign of sleep apnea, but you can snore throughout the night even if you don’t have this condition. Patients who snore, even without sleep apnea, can choose laser dentistry to prevent their partner or roommates from being continuously awakened by the noise. Chronic snoring can be embarrassing and disruptive to others.

However, if you do have sleep apnea (breathing cessation during the night), sleep apnea treatment in Cookeville, TN, is crucial because the condition has been linked to a whole host of health issues, including but not limited to:

  • Mood Changes
  • Daytime Sleepiness
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Kidney Disease
  • Sudden Stroke

How the Solea Laser Snoring Treatment Works and It's Benefits

Laser treatment for snoring works by tightening or stiffening the soft tissue of the palate, which causes vibrations when you breathe. The vibrations lead to snoring. Below, we share the benefits of laser dentistry for snoring and sleep apnea.

Minimally Invasive

With the dental laser, there are typically no sutures to contend with, no scalpels, and little to no bleeding.

Easier Recovery

Because lasers are guided and precise, neighboring tissues are spared the disruption common in surgery.

Virtually Painless

While you may experience minimal discomfort after therapy, you're unlikely to experience significant pain.

Getting to the Root Cause: Why Do People Snore?

People snore for a variety of reasons, and sometimes it’s temporary. Issues that can aggravate snoring include:

  • Sleep Apnea
  • Certain Medications
  • Alcohol Consumption
  • Sleep Position
  • Obesity
  • Allergies

How Do Dental Lasers Treat Snoring?

The Solea CO2 Laser reduces snoring with sub-dermal energy. This laser-focused energy strengthens the soft palate, specifically the collagen tissues, which then reduces or eliminates the vibrations attributed to snoring. Solea CO2 laser treatment also improves airflow by tightening the softer tissues in the throat that can collapse during the night, making it a valuable treatment for those with sleep apnea as well.

Laser treatment is a gentle way to treat snoring issues, which is why we’re pleased to offer it in our dental office.
